AUC Ammonium Uranyl Carbonate

AUC Ammonium Uranyl Carbonate : A process for converting uranium hexafluoride into uranium dioxide for use as a nuclear reactor fuel. The hexafluoride vapor, together with carbon dioxide and ammonia, are passed into aqueous ammonium carbonate at 70?C, precipitating ammonium uranyl carbonate: UF6 + 5H2O + 10NH3 + (NH4) 4[UO2(CO3)3. + 6NH4F. The precipitate is filtered off, washed, and calcined in hydrogen in a fluidized bed. (Check source for accuracy of chemical formula)
