SKAD
SKAD : The Survival Kit Air Droppable (SKAD) consists of one or two inflatable liferafts joined to one or two bundles of survival equipment by light, floatable polypropylene rope. The kit can be dropped from the Buffalo or Hercules by hand or automatically dropped like a bomb from various patrol or fighter aircraft. The automatic version is smaller and the drops less accurate than those dropped by hand. When the liferaft are thrown out of the airplane, a break-away lanyard activates a bottle of compressed CO2, inflating the raft as it drops. (Maritime/Risk)
