Snell's Law 2

Snell's Law 2 : In seismology, the law describing the angles of seismic rays reflected and transmitted (i.e. refracted) at an interface in the Earth. It is derived from the conservation of wave slowness parallel to the interface. This law was originally discovered in optics by the Dutch physicist Willebrord Snell in about 1621. See section 2.5.2 in Chapter 2 of this Manual, Chapman (2002), and Bleistein (2002)
