Tracer 2
Tracer 2 : (Med; Techn) usually an isotope of an element, a small amount of which may be incorporated into a sample of material (the carrier) in order to follow (trace) the course of that element through a chemical, biological, or physical process, and thus also to follow the larger sample. Syn: Label; Tag. Note: If the tracer is radioactive, observations are made by measuring the radioactivity. If the tracer is stable, mass spectrometers, density measurement, or neutron activation analysis may be used to determine isotopic composition
