Ulcer 1 : (Med) An inflammatory lesion resulting from loss of superficial tissue, occurring most often in the gastrointestinal tract with or without infection or pain. Note: Gastric ulcers, called Curling's ulcers, are often seen after severe body burns. Ulcers can also occur on the skin and the mucous tissues of the mouth and tongue. Thermal ulcers caused by flame or electrical burns are treated by removing the dead tissue, ensuring asepsis, and applying skin grafts, if large areas are involved
