Uranium 10 : Depleted Uranium: Nuclear Energy and Nuclear Disasters. Uranium containing a lesser mass percentage of uranium-235 than in natural uranium. Enriched Uranium: Uranium containing a greater mass percentage of uranium-235 than 0.72%. High Enriched Uranium (HEU): Uranium containing 20% or more of the isotope 235U. HEU is considered a special fissionable material and a direct use material. Low Enriched Uranium (LEU): Enriched uranium containing less than 20% of the isotope 235U. LEU is considered a special fissionable material and an indirect use material. Natural Uranium: Uranium (which may be chemically separated) containing the naturally occurring distribution of uranium isotopes (approximately 99.28% uranium238 and 0.72% uranium-235 by mass). In all cases, a very small mass percentage of 234U is present. The naturally occurring distribution of uranium isotopes including uranium-234 (approximately 99.285% uranium-238, 0.710% uranium-235, and 0.005% uranium-234 by mass) corresponds to approximately 48.9% 234U, 2.2% 235U and 48.9% 238U by activity
