V-series Nerve Agents 1 : Chemistry and Chemical Disasters. Chemical agents of moderate to high toxicity developed in the 1950s. They are generally persistent. Examples are VE (phosphonothioic acid, ethyl-, S-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl] O-ethylester), VG (phosphorothioic acid, S-[2-(diethylamino)ethyl] O, O-diethyl ester), VM (phosphonothioic acid, methyl-, S-[2-(diethylamino) ethyl] O-ethyl ester), VS (phosphonothioic acid, ethyl, S-[2-[bis(1-methylethyl)amino] ethyl] O-ethyl ester), and VX (phosphonothioic acid, methyl-, S-[2-[bis(1-methylethyl)amino]ethyl] O-ethyl ester)
