Wood 1

Wood 1 :

(Build; for Serv) A forest product, one of the most widely used structural materials, consisting of about 50% cellulose, 20% hemicellulose, and 30% lignin. Wood ignites above 500ºF. Note: Some commonly-used structural woods are fir, spruce, hemlock, pine, oak, and maple; floors and furniture woods include oak, maple, beach, birch, and cypress; furniture and interior finishing woods include walnut, mahogany, teak, gumwood, basswood, and various fruitwoods, such as cherry; shingles and siding are usually of cedar or redwood. Certain woods, such as yellow pine, have a high resin content and therefore burn hotter than other species. Veneer is usually more flammable than solid wood because of its small thickness and the fact that the sheets may tend to delaminate when exposed to heat
