A widely used structural material. Consists of about 50% cellulose, 20% hemicellulose and 30% lignin. Timber and its wood-based products are combustible. Spontaneous ignition does not normally occur below 150ºC but should not be subjected to temperatures over 100ºC for prolonged periods.
