X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry

X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometry : A chemical analysis technique which uses an X-ray source to excite secondary (fluorescent) X-rays from the elements in the sample. The energy produced is dependant upon the electronic configuration of the atom and consequently each element will emit a characteristic X-ray spectrum. The intensity of selected emission lines from the spectrum can be related to the concentration of the element in the sample
