Kickback 1 :
(Safety) A sudden, forceful reaction of a piece of material (usu wood) being cut by a circular saw that is rotating in the opposite direction from the material as it is fed into the saw. Note: Since the saw blade is rotating at high speed, the force that can be exerted on the material is substantial and can cause serious injury to the operator. A kickback occurs when the saw blade is dull, the material binds behind the cut, and the tangential force of the saw is greater than the operator can exert on the material
