Chain Pipes 2 : Vertical pipes, sometimes called Spurling pipes, of sufficient diameter, through which the anchor cables pass up through the decks when the anchors are let go. The windlass is usually placed over these pipes in such a way that the cable lifters on the windlass are directly above the chain pipes
