Konox

Konox : A process for removing hydrogen sulfide from industrial gases by absorption in aqueous sodium ferrate (Na2FeO4) solution. The ferrate is reduced to ferrite (NaFeO2) and the sulfide is oxidized to elemental sulfur. The main reactions are: 4Na2FeO4 + 6H2S = 4NaFeO2 + 4NaOH + 6S + 4H2O ; 4NaFeO2 + 4NaOH + 3O2 + 4Na2FeO4 + 2H2O. (Check source for accuracy of chemical formula)
