MWEAC 2 : Mount Weather Emergency Assistance Center. Located in Virginia high in the Blue Ridge Mountains 75 miles west of Washington, D.C., MWEAC is a hub for emergency response activities providing the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and other government agencies space for offices, training, conferencing, operations, and storage. Several FEMA functions are sited at Mount Weather. The Conference and Training Center (CDC) at Mount Weather supports FEMA training activities. Relates to FEMA's Emergency Management Institute (EMI). This location was first used by the Department of Agriculture's Weather Bureau as a meteorological balloon and kite launch facility in 1902
