Aqueous Film-Forming Foam 3

Aqueous Film-Forming Foam 3 :

(AFFF) (1) A foam concentrate based on fluorinated surfactants plus foam stabilizers and diluted with water to form a 3 percent or 6 percent solution. The foam excludes air or oxygen and develops an aqueous film capable of suppressing a fire. (2) A fluorinated surfactant with a foam stabilizer that is diluted with fresh or sea water in 3 or 6 percent proportion. The foam formed forms as a barrier against oxygen, and develops an aqueous film on the fuel surface capable of suppressing fuel vapors. AFFF concentrates are normally used in conventional foam-making devices suitable for producing protein foams, and may also be applied through fixed or variable pattern water spray nozzles, if such equipment should be listed for this use.
