NGS 1 : National Geodetic Survey. A component agency serving the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration/National Ocean Service which, in turn, are part of the US Department of Commerce. NGS delivers and evolves a national foundation of reference for latitude, longitude, height, velocity, shoreline, and gravity throughout the United States with consistency, accuracy, timeliness, currency, and easy access to support public safety, coastal stewardship, economic prosperity, and environmental well being.
