Oxidizer 02 : (1) A substance that readily gives up oxygen without requiring an equivalent of another element in return. (2) A substance that contains an atom or atomic group that gains electrons such as oxygen, ozone, chlorine, hydrogen peroxide, nitric acid, metal oxides, chlorates, and permanganates.
