P 15 : The letter (P) following a guide number in the yellow-bordered and blue-bordered pages identifies a material which may polymerize violently under high temperature conditions or contamination with other products. It is used to identify materials that have a strong potential for polymerization in the absence of an inhibitor or due to the inhibitor depletion caused by the accident conditions. This polymerization will produce heat and high-pressure buildup in containers which may explode or rupture. (See polymerization below)
