Phon 3
Phon 3 : Unit in measuring loudness of noise. The scale of phons is such that 10 phons more means 10 times as loud, 20 phons more means 10 X 10 = 100 times as loud, and so on. Quiet whisper = 10 phons; quiet street = 30 phons; noisy train = 90; inside noisy aeroplane = 110. The loudness of a sound in phons is the same number as the strength of an equally loud pure note (of frequency 1 kHz in decibels)
