Physics 1
Physics 1 : (Phys) The study of the interaction of matter and energy and of the origin, nature, and properties of gravitational, electromagnetic, nuclear, and other force fields for the purpose of explaining and understanding natural phenomena. Note: Formerly, physics was called natural philosophy and included classical mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, kinetics of gases and statistical mechanics, optics, acoustics, electricity, and magnetism. Newer branches of the science include the physics of high-energy particles; nuclear, atomic, and molecular physics; the physics of solids, liquids, gases, and plasmas; cryogenics (low-temperature physics); mathematical physics, biophysics, and a number of other specialized branches.
