Pinned Connection

Pinned Connection :

A connection that can transmit shear but not moment, like a hinge. Historically, actual pins were used in such connections, particularly in bridges, but in modern construction most such pinned joints are welded or bolted joints not designed to transmit significant moments. See Dowrick (1977), and Salmon and Johnson (1996)
