Pipe 03 : A long tube or hollow body of wood, metal, earthenware, or the like, as to conduct water, oil, steam, etc. (A) Conductor Pipe: A short sting of casing of large diameter. Its function is to keep the top of the wellbore open and to provide a means of conveying the upflowing drilling fluid from the wellbore to the slush pit. (B) Surface Pipe: The second string of casing run in the well which may be set from a few hundred feet to a depth of a few thousand feet. Its primary purpose is to seal off fresh water aquifers and to help support subsequent casing strings and wellhead equipment. (Bul 10C)
