Pitch 04 : (1) The degree of steepness, as the slope of a roof. (2) (Fire Pr) The included angle between the horizontal and a leaning ladder, measured on the side opposite the climbing side. (3) (Chem Eng) A darkcolored residue left after distillation of tar. (4) (Techn) The distance between consecutive threads of a bolt or coupling, or the distance between the centers of two adjacent teeth of a gear wheel. (5) (Navig) Motion about the transverse axis of a vessel or aircraft. (6) (Acoust) The quality of highness or lowness of sound, determined by its frequency. Note: In the audible range, 16 Hz is the lowest and 20,000 Hz is the highest sound that can be heard by the normal human ear
