It covers a diverse range of items from office equipment to industrial machinery. Examples of plant include tractors, lifts, amusement devices, forklifts, printing presses, hand tools, ladders and computers. Includes any machinery, equipment or appliance. The Queensland Act also includes pressure vessels, implements and tools and personal protective equipment. It also includes a component of plant and a fitting, connection, accessory or adjunct to plant. Specified high risk plant includes: (a) airconditioning unit; (b) amusement device; (c) cooling tower; (d) escalator; (e) gas cylinder; (f) lift. The OHS Regulation 2001 specifies risk control measures for the design, manufacture, supply and use of plant, including the maintenance and repair of plant. The Regulation implements the National Standard for Plant and sets out risk management obligations for all people involved in the life cycle of the plant - from design and manufacture, through to supply and use, to dismantling and disposal. It also specifies obligations for the registration of certain items of plant and certain plant designs. There are specific provisions in The Regulation that applies to plant affecting public safety (e.g. boilers, pressure vessels, lifts & amusement devices), whether or not the plant is at a place of work or for use at work. The Regulation also sets requirements for the review of risk assessments, the provision of information and the keeping of certain records for particular items of plant
