Plasma 01 : Medicine. (1) (Med) The liquid part of the lymph, or of the blood, in which the blood cells are suspended. See: Blood Plasma. (2) (Phys) An electrically neutral, gas-like mixture of positive and negative ions within a metal, or one that can be contained by strong magnetic and electrical fields. Note: Sometimes called the fourth state of matter, since it is unlike a solid, liquid, or gas. In contrast to a gas, plasma is a good conductor of electricity. High-temperature plasmas are used in controlled fusion experiments
