Polarization Anisotropy

Polarization Anisotropy :

A term used (in contrast to azimuthal anisotropy) to refer to an anisotropic medium in which the seismic-wave properties depend apparently on the polarization of the waves, and not on the azimuth of their propagation direction. SH/SV velocity differences and Love-Rayleigh wave discrepancies are often referred to as "polarization anisotropy" while azimuthal velocity variations would be due to "azimuthal anisotropy"..
