Population (statistics) :
The totality of items under consideration. Every clearly defined part of a population is called a "subpopulation''. In the case of a random variable, the probability distribution is considered as defining the population of that variable (ISO, 1977). The term Population Segment is sometimes used as a synonym for subpopulation
