Pre-Designated Principal Federal Official (PFO) :
In certain scenarios, a PFO may be predesignated by the Secretary of Homeland Security to facilitate Federal domestic incident planning and coordination at the local level outside the context of a specific threat or incident. A PFO also may be designated in a pre-incident mode for a specific geographic area based on threat and other considerations.
