Pre-heating 1

Pre-heating 1 : (1) In the firebed of a furnace a certain amount of waste heat is bound to escape up the chimney via the flue gases. However, it is possible to make the flue gases circulate around the fuel or the feed water of a boiler, prior to allowing them to escape up the chimney. The fuel or feed-water is then said to be pre-heated. (2) (Electronic) Preheating time is the minimum time for heating a cathode e. g. of a valve, before other voltages are applied, thus ensuring full emission
