Pressure Measurement : (Metrol) The determination of the force applied to a unit area and expressed as gage pressure (psig) the difference between atmospheric pressure and the pressure being measured; as absolute pressure (psia), the total pressure including atmospheric; or as vacuum pressure, when the pressure is less than atmospheric.
