Pressure Relief Device 1 : A device operated by temperature, pressure, or both, used to prevent the pressure from rising above a predetermined maximum and for the purpose of preventing the rupture of a normally charged cylinder where subjected to a standard fire test as required by Title 49, Code of Federal Regulations, 173. 34(d) or 73. 34(d), of the Canada Transport (TC) Regulations. Pressure relief devices for DOT/TC cylinders also include devices capable of protecting partially charged cylinders where subjected to these fire tests
