Products of Combustion 2 : The term is usually used in the context of physical and visible results of a fire in the form of combustion gases, flame and smoke. Most combustible materials contain carbon, which burns to form carbon dioxide when the air supply is ample. When the air supply is limited, carbon monoxide may be apparent. Some of the other gases may be formed when the materials burn and these may include ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen chloride, nitric acid, phosgene, hydrogen sulphide, sulfur dioxide, and other gases, depending upon the subject of combustion and temperature rise in the combustibles
