Proxy Measure : A proxy measure is used when it is too difficult to measure exactly what you want to measure. It is a measure that is closely related to what you want to measure, and that is possible to collect. For instance you may want to know about children's safe road crossing behaviour outside of school but all you can really measure might be the number of times they report using a pedestrian crossing, or avoid crossing behind parked cars
