"...provides grant funding to support mass transit agencies within the Nation's key highthreat urban areas in their efforts to enhance security measures for critical transit infrastructure including bus, rail and ferry systems. This program also provides funding to Amtrak for continued security enhancements for intercity rail operations between key, high-risk urban areas throughout the United States. A risk-based approach is used to allocate TSGP funding to eligible mass transit and intra-city bus systems on a regional basis to address priorities identified in the National Preparedness Guidelines, the NIPP and the National Strategy for Transportation Security (NSTS), with particular focus on high-risk and high consequence transit systems".
