Quality Management and Quality Assurance - Vocabulary 5 :

Scope: This International Standard defines the fundamental terms relating to quality concepts, as they apply to all areas, for the preparation and use of quality-related standards and for mutual understanding in international communications. Terms and definitions in the following definitions, the terms appearing in the alphabetical index are in semi-bold type. Within each definition, reference is made to then umber where they are defined. The numbered terms and definitions are classified under the following main headings: (1) general terms; (2) terms related to quality; (3) terms related to the quality system; (4) terms related to tools and techniques. Section1: General terms: 1.1 entity item that which can be individually described and considered. Note: An entity maybe, for example: (a) an activity or a process (1.2), a product (1.4), (b) an organization (1.7), a system or a person, or (c) any combination thereof. 1.2 process setoff inter-related resources and activities which transform inputs into outputs. Note: Resources may include personnel, finance, facilities, equipment, techniques and methods. 1.3 Procedure specified way to perform an activity.
