Quartering
Quartering : The reduction in quantity of a large sample of material by intimately mixing the material together, then dividing the heap into four approximately equal parts by diameters at right angles, removing two diagonally opposite quarters and mixing the two remaining quarters intimately together, so as to obtain a truly representative half of the original mass. The process is repeated until a sample of the required size is obtained
