Rad (rd) :

A metric unit measuring radiation dose. One rad is equal to a dose of 0.01 joule of energy per kilogram of mass (J/kg), or 100 ergs of energy per gram of mass. The SI unit of radiation dose is the gray (Gy); one rad equals 0.01 gray or 1 centigray. "Rad" is an acronym for "radiation absorbed dose."
