The time required for a radar signal to travel a distance of one mile from the transmitter to an object, and then return to the receiver. Both ordinary (statute) and nautical miles are used: the radar statute mile is about 10.8 microseconds (µs) and the radar nautical mile is about 12.4 microseconds. A radar kilometer would be about 6.7 microseconds
