Radiation 06 : A mode of transferring energy by electromagnetic waves without the need for an intervening medium. Heat and light are two forms of energy that may be transmitted in this way. The term has now been extended to include fast-moving particles such as protons, neutrons etc and cosmic radiation, etc. Nuclear radiation is that emitted from atomic nuclei in nuclear reactions and includes alpha, beta and gamma radiation as well as neutrons
