Radiation Damping

Radiation Damping : The dissipation of energy through the transmission of vibratory energy that is not reflected or confined. Radiation damping occurs, for example, in the idealized problem of a vibrating structure imbedded in a linear, elastic half space, even when the material of the half space is not dissipative.
