Atmospherica Pressure
Atmospherica Pressure : (Phys) The pressure exerted by the weight of the air, which at sea level is approx 760 mm of mercury, or about 14. 7 pounds per square inch under standard conditions. Atmospheric pressure decreases with altitude at the rate of approx 1 inch of mercury for each 1000 feet up to 7000 feet, at which point the rate of decrease becomes steadily less. See: Standard Atmosphere. Note: Conversions of common pressure units are given in a table under pressure measurement
