RCC 6

RCC 6 : Regional Control Centre: Fire and rescue authorities across the country are being required by the Government to set up Regional Control Centres to deal with 999 calls. Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority was informed of the decision to base a regional control room in Fareham, Hampshire in 2005. The authority is complying with the Communities and Local Government (CLG) plans to replace local control rooms with a regional network and will work on the project, together with other fire authorities, through the Regional Management Board Task Group on control rooms. The existing 46 UK control rooms use a variety of technology and risk management systems. Under FiReControl, nine networked regional control centres will all use the same new technology, systems and processes, and have access to the same information
