Risk Assessment, Workplace 2 : the Difference Between Safety and Health: When carrying out a risk assessment, the different nature of safety hazards and risks and health hazards and risks has to be taken into account. This is especially the case when evaluating the long-term health consequences of exposure to workplace hazards and in the determination of appropriate risk controls. Safety hazards and the resulting risks are generally more evident and, therefore, usually more straightforward for an employer to deal with.
