Risk 045 :
"Risk is the probability of an event occurring, or the likelihood of a hazard happening (Presidential/Congressional Commission on Risk Assessment and Risk Management 1997). Risk emphasizes the estimation and quantification of probability in order to determine appropriate levels of safety or the acceptability of a technology or course of action. Risk is a component of hazard". (Cutter 2001, 3)
مخاطرة (وجمعها مخاطرات) 45: "الخطر هو احتمال وقوع حدث، أو احتمال حدوث خطر (لجنة رئاسية/الكونغرس المعنية بتقييم المخاطر وإدارة المخاطر 1997). وتؤكد المخاطرة على تقدير الاحتمالات وتقديرها الكمي من أجل تحديد مستويات السلامة المناسبة أو قبول التكنولوجيا أو مسار العمل. الخطر هو عنصر من عناصر الخطر".
