Risk 052 :
The economics literature is intrinsically important to articulating an epistemological definition of risk in its characterization of risk being something different from uncertainty. The idea is that risk and uncertainty both relate to the unknown, but that risk is an attempt to control the unknown by applying knowledge based on the orderliness of the world. Uncertainty, on the other hand, represents the totally random unknown and thus cannot be controlled or predicted. (Althaus 2005, 568)
مخاطرة (وجمعها مخاطرات) 52: إن الأدب الاقتصادي مهم جوهرياً في صياغة تعريف معرفي للمخاطر في توصيفه للمخاطرة كونه شيئاً مختلفاً عن عدم اليقين. والفكرة هي أن المخاطر وعدم اليقين كلاهما يتعلق بالمجهول، ولكن هذا الخطر هو محاولة للسيطرة على المجهول من خلال تطبيق المعرفة على أساس النظام العالمي. ومن ناحية أخرى، يمثل عدم اليقين المجهول العشوائي تماماً، وبالتالي لا يمكن السيطرة عليه أو التنبؤ به.
