Person Injury: (a) Injured: Injured in a road accident. Hospitalisation or medical treatment not necessarily required (except France). Self declaration of injury (Denmark if slight ; Finland, Britain, Italy, Ireland, North Ireland). Opinion of the police. Note: see: seriously injured, slightly injured definitions. (b) Killed: Death within 30 days of a road accident (UN/ECE Geneva 1995.  Statistics of Road Traffic Accidents in Europe and North America, annex 1), except Austria (3 days before 1992), Spain (24 hours in CARE ; 24 hours before 1993 in publication), France (6 days), Britain (24 hours), Italy (7 days), Portugal (24 hours). Suicide not included (except Denmark, Spain, France). Natural death not included (except Luxembourg, Sweden). (c) Not Injured: Not injured in an accident. Person does not require medical treatment (Austria, Denmark, Spain, France, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg). Opinion of the police (Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Sweden). Note: Uninjured drivers are included. Uninjured passengers may be included (Austria, Spain, France, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg). Uninjured pedestrians may be included (except Britain, Italy, Portugal). Not injured drivers implicitly included in vehicle record). (d) Seriously Injured: Injured in a road accident. Hospitalised at least 6 days (France). Hospitalised at least 24 hours (Belgium, Denmark, Spain from 1993 onwards, Britain, Luxembourg, Portugal). Hospitalised as in-patient (Denmark, Netherlands). Not hospitalised, hospitalised for observation or as in-patient (Britain, Ireland, North Ireland). No reference to hospitalisation (Austria, Sweden). Opinion of the police (except Belgium, Spain from 1993 onwards, France, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Portugal). Police guidance provided (Denmark, Spain before 1993, Britain, Ireland, North Ireland). Persons died 30 days after accident included (except France, Luxembourg, Portugal). (e) Slightly Injured: Injured in a road accident. Hospitalised 6 days or less (France). Hospitalised less than 24 hours (Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Britain, Portugal). Not hospitalised (Denmark, Britain, Ireland, North Ireland, Netherlands). Medical treatment required (Denmark, France, Luxembourg, Portugal). Police guidance provided (Denmark, Spain before 1993, Britain, Ireland, North Ireland). Opinion of the police
