Roentgen 01
Roentgen 01 : (Dosim; Abb: r) The international unit of x- or gammaradiation, esp used in establishing safe levels of exposure to persons working in the presence of ionizing radiation, defined as the quantity of energy equal to 83 ergs per gram of air or one electrostatic unit of electricity in 1 cm3 of dry air at standard temperature and pressure. Note: The rad is a more convenient unit and is preferred to the roentgen unit in dosimetry. The roentgen unit is named after Wilhelm Roentgen, a German scientist, who discovered x-rays in 1895
