Rollover Protection Device (RPD)
Rollover Protection Device (RPD) :
Is a mechanical structure that fits within the vehicle body and prevents the structural collapse of the roof of a vehicle and pillars supporting the roof in the event that a vehicle rolls over onto its roof. The RPD should be designed not to cause injury to vehicle occupants in the event of a rollover, or pedestrians outside the vehicle in event of a collision. In addition, it is offered as guidance that the RPD should be capable of withstanding the following forces combined as a single point load on either corner of the main RPD loop: (1) 3 x vehicle operating weight vertically. (2) 3 x vehicle operating weight fore and aft. (3) 1.5 x vehicle operating weights each side
