Roundabout 1

Roundabout 1 : A channelised intersection at which all traffic moves clockwise around a central traffic island. In local streets and collector roads, roundabouts are almost always constructed with a single circulating lane and single lane approaches; however, this may depend on the predicted traffic volumes. Roundabouts are effective for both three and four-leg intersections in reducing the speeds of approaching traffic, reducing the number of conflict points and reducing the angle of potential collisions. Roundabouts operate most efficiently where traffic flows on all approaches are similar or where the overall traffic flow is low
