A set of parameters that are easy to follow up and which gives a sufficiently clear picture of the safety status of the operation, and which at an early stage will give the operation management an indicator that some aspect of the operation is about to deteriorate so that corrective action can be initiated before the situation creates an unacceptable risk. Some examples of Safety Performance Indicators at an airport are: Movement area safety: This includes (1) Violation of local traffic rules (vehicles); (2) Unauthorized personnel on the airside (3) Incidents and accidents on the apron involving; personnel, aircraft or ground equipment. Pavement maintenance: This includes (1) FOD cases actual; (2) FOD cases potential; (3) Bird strikes; (4) Occasions when birds were scared away; (5) Worn markings. Winter operations: This includes (1) Temporarily cleared runway in relation to movements or business hours; (2) Fully cleared runway in relation to movements or business hours; (3) Movements on friction levels below 0.30, 0.25 or at 9; (4) Errors in the reporting chain. Electrical services: This includes (1) Disruption of primary power supply; (2) Reduced serviceability of one or more light systems; (3) Unserviceability of one or more light systems; (4) One or more obstacle lights unserviceable more than x hours at a time; (5) Signs out of service. Fire fighting and rescue: This includes (1) Cases of increased alert level (should be greater than zero); (2) Exercise frequency, all types; (3) Response time more than 90 seconds; (4) Reduced category in relation to traffic; (5) Certain resources out of service more than xx hours at a time (ex rescue boats if they are part of the emergency plan); (6) Use of not fully qualified personnel
